July, 2008: perfect days for windsurfing: perfect days for Kite boarding: perfect days for surfing: The
Cabarete Classic Windsurfing Competition was held from 17th to 20th
of July and Cabarete was offering perfect condtions with nice wind
every day. We saw nice formula races, exciting slalom fights
around the bows and expressive Freestyle action with over 50 competitors
from all over the world and from age 8 until 55. June, 2008: perfect days for windsurfing: 15 perfect days for Kite boarding: 21 perfect days for surfing: 16 The PKRA Kite-World- Cup was held from 25-29 of June. Cabarete saw incredible action on the water and nice parties at night. The winners of the Freestyle competition were Kevin Langeree from Netherlands and Gisela Pulido from Spain. Best Local competitors were Manuel David Rondon at 3rd place and Susi May on 4th place in the women competition. May, 2008: perfect days for windsurfing: 15 perfect days for Kite boarding: 16 perfect days for surfing: 17 May started well the first ten days with nice and strong wind from East and a big swell from North. Than we got a break with low wind and flat ocean for some days before a new swell came in with rain and gusty winds first before we got perfect conditions back for kite boarding, windsurfing and surfing. At the end we got an other 3 day break before wind and waves came back for the rest of the month. All in all we had a nice time with ont so much rain and nice periods with perfect wind and decent waves. April, 2008: perfect days for windsurfing: 16 perfect days for Kite boarding: 17 perfect days for surfing: 21 April Started like March ended with funtastic conditions again for windsurfing and Kite boarding. We got nice and very strong wind (20-30 KN) from East for the first 14 days. But than the wind sucked and just came back for the last 4 days of the month. Lucky if you were here the first half of the month and bad if you were here the second one. The swells were huge in the first week, but very messy and blown out. The rest of the month the surf was smaller but nice and clean and there was just a few days with almost flat conditions.
March, 2008: Finally Cabarete Road get fixed and dust and mud find an end in these days. So we hope now more tourists are coming back to our town and they can enjoy more their shoppings. Cabarete is offering a lot of high lights in March starting with the "Master of the ocean" followed with competions for surfing and windsurfing the second weekend and the "Castillos de arena". perfect days for windsurfing: 21 perfect days for Kite boarding: 27 perfect days for surfing: 25 Cabarete offered funtastic conditions again for windsurfing and Kite boarding. We got nice and strong wind from East almost every day. Winds were like in summer but we got some huge swells too. In Eastern week it got soo big that police tried to forbid kite surfing, but it was difficult because there were so many people going out. This swell was one of the biggest we saw in the last years and just a few Kite boarders very crasy enough to cross the reef break. All in all I in 11 years I never saw a winter with such good wind like the last two month. Especially in March we got summer winds compared with winter swells. This sounds like Hawaii and the good thing it was mostly not so crowded than the last years. February, 2008: Cabarete is offering incredible wind in February with 28 days wind over 12 kn, 12 days around 20 KN or more and lots of perfect days for windsurfing and Kite boarding. In 10 years we never saw a February good like this. perfect days for windsurfing: 20 perfect days for Kite boarding: 25 perfect days for surfing: 23 Big Air goes Starkites: The new Starkites 2008 (not at the foto) arrived and can be tested at our Kite school or bought at the shop.

November, 2007: perfect days for windsurfing: 6 perfect days for Kite boarding: 10 perfect days for surfing: 24 Right beside our Kite School 'Big Air' a new bar + restaurant, called "Caravelle" opened and even if it is part from the Hotel it will be open for everybody. During the day they will serve nice, cheap dishes for Kiters hunger and at night it will be a more luxury dinner place. October, 2007: perfect days for windsurfing: 10 perfect days for Kite boarding: 10 perfect days for surfing: 13 Tropical storm Noel passed our Island and left a big disaster in the south west part of the country, because of the torential rains. We instead were lucky again. We just saw some rain, a lot of strong wind and huge blown out surf at Encuentro.

It is one of the few town who can open bar until 3 am again every day. Cabarete's parties can start again. So check it out. Cabarete Classic 2007 Cabarete offered perfect conditions for the windsurfing Race, Slalom and Freestyle Cup end of July. Over 50 Competitors from all over the world were fighting in 10 diffrent categories in Racing and were showing incredible moves in the frrestyle competition. The mini Juniors freestyle was dominated by the yound kids from Curacao and the winner was Felix Martina. The mens Freestyle saw a very close and spectacular final with local winner Samuel Perez. Surf Action" from Coco Pipe directly to the main
spot in front of Encuentro's right break and we are working now together
with the surf school Buena Onda and Ali's Surf Camp. The quality of
the lessons will be still very high and the surf pool for your rental
will be much bigger now.

We are now back to our place right beside the Viva Windham Tangerine Hotel. The name off the school changed too. The new name is 'Big Air Kite School' and the service will be the same or even better. Presidente Kite World Cup 2007 Cabarete Locals were ripping it up this year with Ariel Corniel as winner in the men's freestyle contest and Susi Mai was best in the “board off” competition. Conditions were perfect with good wind every day and even nice waves and shore break. We saw 5 days with incredible action on the water and the first time in the history of Cabarete WC that a local guy could beat the worlds best Kite boarders. The good result was completed with the 4th place of Alex Soto from Las Terrenas. Second place went to Alvaro Onieva from Spain who was than winning the "Board off" Competition on sunday. The winner of the womens frestyle was Bruna Kajiya from Brasil. Presidente Kite World Cup 2007 PKRA World Tour is coming again to Cabarete from 27 of June to 01 of July 2007. Since 7 years Cabarete is hosting the best Kite boarders of the world for one week of spectacular action. This year they will fight for World Cup Frestyle points and they will show what is possible with Kite and board in a "board off" competition. Beside the action in the water we are expecting a lot of side events and big partys at Cabaretes famous night life. Pablito Guzman, our team rider in windsurfing, has been qualified for the Pan American Games on the Olympic board. This is the first time that a Dominican Athlete is qualified for these games in Sailing and now he has good chances to qualify to the Olympic Games too. Keep on Sailing or live slow-sail fast, like our No Work Team friend Herbert from Isla Magharita would say.
January, 2007: perfect days for windsurfing: 12 perfect days for Kite boarding: 19 perfect days for surfing: 24 Cabarete offers good wind, nice waves but a lot rain in the first half of January The wind direction is still East almost the whole month and waves and shore break are very moderate this year, but sometimes we get nice surf.. We got just one little storm with huge waves, strong and gusty wind and lots of rain.
December, 2006: perfect days for windsurfing: 15 perfect days for Kite boarding: 20 perfect days for surfing: 25 The wind is back and Bozo Beach Kite Club too December offered funtastic wind and weather almost like in summer with wind from East, swell from East and almost no rain. Bozo Beach Kite Club is back at his old place from last winter, but now with new beach and for this the best teaching area at Cabarete: Good wind, small shore break and waves and big beach. We are still under construction, but the school is already operating since 7th of December. Now you can get info and do reservation at the Fanatic Center at Cabarete beach, at the No Work Team Surf shop in Cabarete and directly at the teaching Area at Bozo Beach after Hotel Viva Tangerine and right beside Nanny Estates. . November, 2006: perfect days for windsurfing: 4 perfect days for Kite boarding: 4 perfect days for surfing: 19 No wind but nice, new beach The works at Cabarete beach got finished end of November and everybody is happy about the new, nice and big beach we got. Let's hope that it last long. Also the wind came back to Cabarete after the 20th of November. And for some reasons we moved our Kite school -Bozo Beach Kite Club- to the Fanatic Center with the new Cafe Pitu where we find a relaxed and cool Atmosphere. Here we will have our booking center for Cabarete Center ... and the teaching area will be soon at the same place like last winter. So come to check it out.

Than it stopped and we didn`t see wind until 28 of October. the las tdays of the month were good again. The surf was quiet and the hurricane season dropped very early this year.
Cabarete is getting new beach. The work looks difficult and get always disturbed because of technical problems, but at the end we will get a funtastic new beach at Cabarete and there was not one day that we could not enjoy our windsurfing or Kite boarding because of the works. In this breaks Hurricanes are passing bringing us 2 huge swells and funtastic Surf to the north coast.

Windsurfing was good at 22 days and Kitesurfing was possible almost every day. July, 2006: perfect days for windsurfing: 22 perfect days for Kite boarding: 26 perfect days for surfing: 16 Pablito Guzman wins in Marina Casa de Campo Once more our Team rider Pablito Guzman was winning the windsurfing races in Formula Class in Casa de Campo. 1st Cabarete Classic windsurfing contest For the first time Cabarete saw the Cabarete Classic windsurfing contest with big action in Slalom and Freestyle. A highlight was the new categorie Super minnies with kids under 14 years, which showed us that windsurfing is not dead and very popular by the little kids.

Presidente Kite World Cup 2006 Like every year Cabarete offered big action in the water and on the party side. The wind was blowing nice and strong every day, but got disturbed by some thunderstorms in the afternoon. We saw a lot of incredible heats in the freestyle competition and the dobble ilimination got finished on Sunday with the winners Kevin Langeree from Holland and Kristin Boese from Germany. The locals were on fire too with the best Alex Soto at 4th place. We thank all the competitiors for the great show and hope to see you again next year. May,

Bozo Beach Kite Club The Kite school in Happy is operating well and the opening of the new school is coming closer and even if we are still in negociations we start looking for new personal. What we need is a secretary and licenced Kite instructors (if possible with licence for windsurfing or sailing or cat sailing). They should speak at least English and some Spanish and may be some german or french or Italian. So contact us if you are interested and if you are at least 3 month available. Bozo Beach Kite Club This is not a joke for April 1st, but we had to close the Kite school again, because the land is sold again. But don't worry: we are operating again from Happy Surf pool and from June 1st we will open a new school close to the last one bigger and nicer than ever with Kite boarding, wind surfing, cat sailing, surfing and much more. November 2004: OP Latin Pro contest 2004 was held at Cabarete´s famous surf spot Encuentro from 05-07. Nov. 2004. A few countrys been represented, Rep. Dominicana, Chile, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venzuela, Costa Rica. The swell was not there, 2-3 feet and last day 1-2 feet. The Friday was more training for the competitors, the saturday starts the series in every categories, open men, junior, girls, body board, body board girls, exept long board. The finals and longboarding on sunday. The title in longboard and juniors stay in Cabarete, the rest get away somewhere else. too bad the waves was not there, but the ambience was supercool. lets see next year (with higher waves and better organisation .the red.) is the new team Rider for No Work Team. He is the Dominican Champion in the Junior categorie from Kite boarding 2003. Best Kiteboarding Cabarete World Cup 2004 Cabarete offered again one week perfect conditions with strong winds every day for fantastic competitions in Freestyle and Best trick. 101 Riders from 32 countries were celebrating one of the biggest and nicest World Cups ever. The men's winner in both categories was Jaime Herraiz from Spain and in the women's competition Cindy Mosey from New Zealand was the winner in both categories. Best Dominican competitors were Jose Luis Ciriaco with 3rd place in men's Freestyle and Susie May with second place in women's Best trick competition. Cabarete local hero of the year 2003: The Cabarete girl Susi Mai, 18 years old, won the RED BULL KING OF THE AIR Kite-contest in Hawai(Hookipa). Susi was born in Germany, but is living since over 10 years in Cabarete. She is Kite boarding since one and a half year and was already 2nd place at the Cabarete Kite world cup this year in June and we saw, that she has the best style of all girls on the tour. While Hookipa was showing his face with 30-35 KN gusty wind, she was showing the best performance of all girls. Gratulations from us and we are very proud, because: Until she got new big sponsors, she was sponsored by NO WORK TEAM-Cabarete and riding our NO WORK TEAM-Custom made boards made by her Dad. Congratulations also to Cabarete Kid Luciano Gonzales, who won 3rd place in the same Contest. |
